Undercover Federal agent Timothy Carter seeks to find out from Dr. Stella Hunter, a Medievalist at Michigan University, what caused a riot in Cairo that left him wounded, scarred... and in need of answers. Lurking behind these events, and somehow tied to the book 'Myths and Legends: The Ribbons of Truth', is Nicola Moses, the CEO of the Obelisk Meridian Corporation. This further draws a connection to the Peacetaker Legend.The Peacetaker Legend states that once in a Blue Moon a child is born with 'Peacetaker' powers which allow the child when grown to sow madness in other people's minds. Moses has been suspected of terrorist ties for years, and if he is able to employ this Madness, it could only further his political ambitions in his native Egypt.
Dr. Hunter and Agent Carter go over her research into the Peacetaker, and there is a conundrum at the center of it that has to do with where legends come from: dreams or reality? Whichever it is, the Peacetaker is spreading madness and soon a rally on the Mall in Washington turns into chaos. The pair realize that whatever is the truth of the matter, they must find the current Peacetaker before that person causes even more carnage with their powers.
Employing modern investigative techniques, and age-old research the two go on a chase to find the Peacetaker and those controlling him. They will be tested, in life and death situation-- and worse --before they come to the end of their search and the only way forward for them is an entirely unexpected twist with a partial resolution...yet setting up even more questions for the future of their own lives, and the world.

Ribbons of Death Peacetaker Series Book 1 eBook Edita A Petrick Reviews
Although I am not a person won on her own would purchase a book that contains a fantasy element, this book kept my interest and attention throughout. The character development is well done with an emphasis on the attraction of two complete opposites as the main characters. Much if the book resonated with me and I was able to reflect upon some of the lessons from the book. Finally I will leave you with one thought that was taught in the book (loosely stated) 's ) dear is the gateway to help'.

I stumbled upon this book while looking for a new book to read and downloaded the sample. I enjoy reading mystery and history but I rarely read books that include mystical powers or such nonsense. Although I expected to enjoy the historical aspect of this book, I was pleasantly surprised to find i enjoyed the entire book enough to read other books by this author. This is an intelligent thriller, the characters are well defined and create an interesting duo. There is lots of action, no skimming through the pages for me!
Thrilled to read and review an ARC recommended by Hidden Gem written by Edita A. Petrick. Absolutely fell in love with her two main characters, Carter and Stella Hunter. These characters were so fully developed they not only sprang to life from the pages of this book, but they seemed to connect and play off each other almost immediately. They are strong, but flawed characters. The plot captivated from the very beginning and was fast paced. Mystery, mythology, archeology, ancient history, danger and terror - what more could one ask for⁉️
Loved this book so much, when I went to leave a review found it was the 1st in a 5 book series. Got them all...Thank God they were on sale, because I wanted to read them ALL and I did not want to wait❣️

Now, onto my review
This book got off to a slow start and for the first few chapters, I honestly didn’t know where the author was going to go with it. But after the carnage of the demonstration and meeting Agent Carter…….it more than delivered.
Carter was somewhat of a mysterious person and you learn slowly about his background over the course of the book. The fact that he was caught up in the demonstration that ended in carnage that was in Egypt.
Stella Hunter, on the other hand, wasn’t mysterious. What you see is what you get with her. I love that she is kinda ditzy, super smart and not afraid to punch someone if needed too (you really need to read the book).
The author also made no qualms about naming the bad guys in this book and I loved it. She comes right out in the first two chapters and names them. The rest of the book is dedicated to finding The Peacemaker and his handler. And, of course, having Stella and Carter outwit the bad guy’s minions. Loved it!!
There was a slight romantic connection between Carter and Stella. No sex or anything but something deeper. I can’t wait to see if the author decides if they are going to be romantically linked in the upcoming books!!
The ending was great but it wasn’t what I expected. It did pave the way for the next book, though, and maybe, just maybe, the person who they didn’t capture in this book will make an appearance in the next one (read the book to find out!!)
How many stars will I give Ribbons of Death? 4
Why? It had a very slow moving start, with characters that weren’t fully explained about until 3-4 chapters into the book. But once the ball got going, it didn’t stop.
