The autoimmune protocol is a very basic diet. It consists of fruits, vegetables and meat. However, not all vegetables are allowed a specific family of vegetables known as nightshades causes autoimmune reactions in a large amount of people. The nightshade family includes eggplants, tomatoes, peppers (sweet and hot kinds – even chilies and jalapeños), mustard and potatoes. Artificial and no-calorie sweeteners are banned, as are processed foods, vegetable oils, dairy, grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, eggs, dried fruit and alcohol. What you can eat meat (preferably grass-fed), fish and seafood, around 2 pieces of fruit per day, the occasional use of natural sweeteners (maple syrup, honey) in small amounts, fermented foods, many coconut products including milk, oil and coconut aminos, clarified butter (known as ghee) and non-nightshade veggies.

Good information in this cook book for people who need to really let the immune system relax a little. The first few page of this book explain what autoimmune actually means. The author presents a great introduction as to why using autoimmune recipes in ones diet are important for certain for helping with certain illnesses. I would have gladly given this book 5 starts, except to date, the book doesn't have an active table of contents. Not being able to quickly find the recipe you want is frustrating when using a Kindle book.In any case tough, this is a very informative book filled with many autoimmune recipes. The book is well worth the little that it costs.

Lately, I have gone on a spree buying health cookbooks. This one was by far my favorite. The recipes are simple and delicious. I really enjoyed the grilled cucumber avocado soup.
And not enough general food prep information. The book says to be prepared before you start but gives no real examples of how to do that.
This is a great book offering a variety of delicious recipes for anyone who wants to boost their autoimmune systems. The recipes are fun to make, creative and easy. The focus is on choosing and preparing foods that are beneficial for the body's immune system, foods that will help boost the body's ability to fight off diseases. These recipes are exceptional! Great collection!
This was a big help as I was embarking on this new and difficult diet. One of my favorite recipes has come from this book and most of them are quick and easy.
This autoimmune book has proven very helpful to me and my family. I knew for a long time that some veggies in the nightshade family, such as eggplant and tomatoes caused problems for me and my son. The nice thing is that having a diet that deals with the autoimmune system can be tasty. This recipe book has shrimp scampi, shepherd’s pie, and coconut ice cream. This is a life style I can live with.
